A programming note for the Fannibals: NBC is moving the beleaguered series to Saturday nights, effective immediately. As seen NBC’s website for the show, Hannibal will move out of its Thursday slot to Saturdays at 10 p.m. When the series returned this year and was slated for Thursdays, fans saw this as a positive sign of NBC’s faith in it. Thursdays are a big night for TV, even if it is summertime. Unfortunately, Hannibal hasn’t thrived in the slot, which of course is one reason NBC cancelled it (and the move is because NBC affiliates are pissed about the low numbers).

What’s perhaps more surprising is that according to THR, NBC is also moving Aquarius to Saturdays with Hannibal. This is a series that doesn’t pull live numbers much better than Bryan Fuller’s nightmarish drama, but NBC claims it has done really well for them digitally (they released the entire season online after the first episode aired, if you recall), although no actual numbers have been released.

Back to Hannibal, the excellent series still has yet to find a home, and since the cast have been released from their contracts and major streaming players like Netflix and Amazon have passed, its continuation seems less and less likely. However, Fuller has said Season 3 would make for a good end to the series, while not ruling out the possibility of a movie to cap things off (this is always the last bastion of hope with cancelled series … I wouldn’t put too much faith in it materializing).
