Wands at the ready! A new official trailer for the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile game is now here. It gives a much better look at the actual gameplay in store for the Spring 2018 than the previously released teaser. For instance, we know that players will get to select their own Hogwarts House, as told to us by the Sorting Hat, after receiving their acceptance letter via digital owl. From there, players will have a variety of design options available to them as they meet other students, learn spells and potions, and even get into some well-mannered frivolity.

But if you've played a mobile game in recent years, you can already spot the money-hungry aspects of Jam City's release, ie micro-transactions. That's to be expected, and it's by no means a deterrent to the thousands if not millions of people who will be playing this game. What's still a bit unappealing to yours truly is the look of this game overall, a sort of circa 2000 The Sims set in J.K. Rowling's magical world. Oh well. This thing's going to make a boatload of Galleons regardless.
