Girls, Veep, Family Tree, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Eastbound & Down—that is a solid, eclectic comedy roster on HBO.  Still, with Eastbound & Down and down entering its final season and Curb Your Enthusiasm waiting on Larry David‘s desire to a ninth season, HBO is looking to bring more comedies to the network.  They ordered Mike Judge‘s Silicon Valley; a dramedy about a group of San Francisco gay men starring Jonathan Groff; Stephen Merchant‘s Hello Ladies, and British import Getting On to series.

Togetherness is the latest to receive a series order from HBO.  The half-hour comedy developed by the Duplass Brothers follows two couples living under the same roof going through relationship difficulties as each individual pursues their own dreams.  Mark Duplass, Melanie LynskeyAmanda Peet, and Steve Zissis star. “Mark Duplass will star as Brett Pierson, a sweet yet odd guy with a seemingly picture-perfect life that includes wife Michelle (Lynskey), a sold job and two kids.  But under the surface, he has problems both personally and professionally.

Amanda Peet plays Tina, an outgoing and smart woman who is considering moving from Houston to Los Angeles to be closer to her sister, Michelle.  Zissis plays Alex Pappas, an actor who has been trying to make it in Los Angeles for almost 20 years who has just been left homeless with only one friend in the world.”

Jay and Mark Duplass will write, executive produce, and direct their first television project behind the camera.  Mark has starred in The League for four seasons and appeared with Jay in several episodes of the debut season of The Mindy Project.  The promising series begins shooting early 2014 in Los Angeles.
