CBS Films has released a new trailer for the Western-tinged action-thriller Hell or High Water. Directed by Starred Up helmer David Mackenzie, the film stars Chris Pine and Ben Foster as two brothers driven to a bank robbing spree by financial desperation. Pine plays Toby, a single father with a clean record, and Foster plays his ex-con brother Tanner, and the two team up for a series of heists aimed to get back at the big banks that have taken over their lives. Hot on their tail is Jeff Bridges as a relentless Texas sheriff.

The script hails from Sicario scribe Taylor Sheridan, and this certainly looks like it could be a swell thriller. Mackenzie broke out in a big way with his well-reviewed prison drama Starred Up, and he assembled a solid cast for this Texas-set thriller that could very well pay off.

Check out the new trailer below. The film also stars Dale Dickey, Gil Birmingham, Katy Mixon, and Kevin Rankin. Hell or High Water opens in select theaters on August 12th and nationwide on August 19th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Hell or High Water:

A story about the collision of the Old and New West, two brothers -- Toby (Chris Pine), a straight-living, divorced father trying to make a better life for his son; and Tanner (Ben Foster), a short-tempered ex-con with a loose trigger finger -- come together to rob branch after branch of the bank that is foreclosing on their family land. The hold-ups are part of a last-ditch scheme to take back a future that powerful forces beyond their control have stolen from under their feet. Vengeance seems to be theirs until they find themselves in the crosshairs of a relentless, foul-mouthed Texas Ranger (Jeff Bridges) looking for one last triumph on the eve of his retirement. As the brothers plot a final bank heist to complete their plan, a showdown looms at the crossroads where the last honest law man and a pair of brothers with nothing to live for except family collide.
