With Schnepp back from his travels abroad, the crew made up of Schnepp, John Campea and Robert Meyer Bennett first had to attend to some business – namely the bet Schnepp made with Chris Gore over the box office success of DeadpoolBecause the movie did so well – as Schnepp predicted – Gore gave Schnepp $25 dollars AND a big check made out in his name.

Will Deadpool Open the Floodgates for More R-Rated Superhero Movies?

And that opened up the floodgates for some Deadpool talk – how the movie was the perfect storm after 8 years in development and how the whole panel believe they shouldn’t rush right in to a R rated superhero movie unless the story calls for it. Everyone mentioned the recent news that Wolverine 3 is rumored to be R rated and the crew all agree, wait to see if the story calls for it before simply giving it the R rating.

Justice League Announces Production Start Date

Next it’s on to DC and the latest news that Justice League Part 1 has officially been given a production start date. Along with the tweet from Zack Snyder posing with Aquaman’s Jason Momoa, the crew discuss where the rumors that the movie was in trouble came from and how it might affect audience’s perception of the movie. But it was Schneppp who broke down some behind the scenes knowledge he obtained from working on The Death of Superman Lives and how he doesn’t believe Justice League will be derailed. At all. Not happening. And that knowledge, along with the announcement and Snyder’s tweet made everyone very excited for the movie.

Dr. Strange and Wonder Woman filming in London!

And then it’s on to some more DC Films news with some Dr. Strange thrown in for good measure. The panel discussed the news and new images released not only for Dr. Strange but also for Wonder WomanBoth movies are actually filming in London at the same time. Along with that tid-bit, the panel had to discuss the images of Dr. Strange himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, seen in his full regalia and costume causing EVERYONE on the panel to geek out. It was if Dr. Strange stepped right out of the comics and on to the set of a movie. To say their excitement levels are through the roof is an understatement.

Next it’s Wonder Woman, who also had some set pictures released into the wild, wild west known as the internet. But the positive vibes continued here as the panel discussed how great everything looks. Plus, with the latest rumors suggesting that not only is Gal Gadot good in the movie but that she actually STEALS the movie out from under the boys, this made everyone on the panel excited for the first stand alone superhero movie featuring a woman.

And then it was on to the second trailer that debuted for season 2 of Daredevil; which everyone agreed – looked amazing! Everyone commented on just how perfect Jon Bernthal looks as Frank Castle AKA The Punisher. The panel also talked about how the series looks like a battle of ideologies – which makes for a VERY interesting premise. The crew than get’s into their thoughts; with speculation on how the season might go down – including whether or not Kingpin will be back. Also, who could forget Elektra? She is also in the season 2 series making everyone agree -Daredevil Season 2 is on top of their most anticipated lists. They can’t wait to start the binge-watching in just a couple short weeks.

Minor Mutations

  • Bruce Wayne avoiding Metropolis damage in a new Jeep commercial
  • Deadpoolcrossing 500 million worldwide
  • Todd McFarlane’s latest Spawn script that is said to be R rated
  • DC renumbering their comics with a new “Rebirth” event series

FlashbackPunisher: Warzone (2008)

The hard R rated second movie in the Punisher series (that didn’t star Dolph Lundgren) the crew settled on this movie because of the R rated-ness of the movie and how underrated the movie is because of its botched marketing. The people behind the movie and Marvel at the time seemed to have no idea how to market this movie for its audience and it was to the detriment of the box office. The panel fondly recalled the movie directed by Green Street Hooligans Lexi Alexander about The Punisher, played by Ray Stevenson, hunting down and killing hundreds of violent criminals facing his deadliest foe yet: Jigsaw.

Spotlight: Dr. Fate
