Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles constantly amaze me with their screen-accurate figures, and their latest offering, the Captain Harlock Sixth-Scale figure, is no different.  As I opened the box that Sideshow sent over, I immediately noticed the insane level of detail on the costume and weapons, and as I put everything together - including placing Harlock's avian friend Mr. Bird on his shoulder - I felt like the manga comic had come alive in my living room.

If you're not familiar with Space Pirate Captain Harlock, it was a classic manga comic series created by Leiji Matsumoto in the 1970s. The story follows the outcast Harlock, who leads a crew aboard his starship to rebel against Earth's oppressors.  Its popularity has led to the creation of an animation series in the 1980s, and last year a CG film hit theaters in Japan.

As you can see in the 30 pictures below, the figure is just awesome.  I even love the cool packaging.  While some people don't pay attention to the packaging, I think that's a huge aspect of any toy and great packaging can add a lot to the display of a figure.

Also, as you can see in the pics, the figure comes with a few weapons and extra hands and ball joints.  That's another aspect of Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles figures that I love: the ability to position the figure as you see fit without losing the pose.

The fact is I can go on and on about how awesome the figure is, but I'm going to let the pictures do the talking.  If you think it's cool and want to own one for yourself, hit this link.  Like all Hot Toys, the figure is limited, so once it's sold out you'll have to hit the secondary market to own one.

Finally, a huge thank you to Sideshow Collectibles for sending this figure over to our office.  It's going to be on display for a very long time.
