DreamWorks Animation has released a new How to Train Your Dragon 2 trailer and poster.  Director Dean Deblois’ animated sequel takes place five years after the first installment, as Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and Toothless are exploring new territories while the rest of their friends are enjoying dragon races.  During one of Hiccup and Toothless’ journeys, they discover a secret ice cave, hundreds of new wild dragons, and the mysterious Dragon Rider.  This trailer has the blend of humor and drama I was hoping the movie would provide, and I'm surprised and encouraged that they're leaning more heavily on the emotional side than the comedy even though the jokes are still funny.  The first How to Train Your Dragon set a high bar.  The sequel could very well meet it.

The thrilling second chapter of the epic HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON trilogy brings us back to the fantastical world of Hiccup and Toothless five years after the two have successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snoutlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island's new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds.
