A couple weeks ago, a group of fellow journalists and I got to visit Pixar for the long lead press day for Incredibles 2. The upcoming sequel will see Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) staying home with the kids while Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) heads out to fight crime and redeem the good name of the supers.
During our visit, we got to see a lot of cool behind-the-scenes images that went into development on the sequel including storyboards, concept art, previs, and much more. Now Disney has released these images, and they help show the incredible amount of detail that goes into every single shot for the movie. It’s wonderful to break down the designs, like how the Parrs’ new home is shaped like an upward arrow, conveying the family’s upward mobility. We also got to see how shots go from storyboards all the way to a finished image.
Dig into the new Incredibles 2 images below, and click here for my recap of what I learned about the movie during my visit to Pixar. The upcoming sequel opens June 15th and also features the voices of Sarah Vowell, Huck Milner, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine Keener, and Bob Odenkirk.
Here’s the official synopsis for Incredibles 2:
Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2”- but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transistion for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again – which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.
