One question remains when it comes to Independence Day: Resurgence, and that is how exactly did it take so damn long for a sequel to Roland Emmerich‘s impossibly lucrative Independence Day to hit theaters. A few interviews have tip-toed around the question, others have just cited the usual deal-making woes that are often discussed with these films, but still, how did this movie not have a sequel in the sequel-happy 1990s? It still confounds me, even with the release of the sequel a mere month away.
Well, whatever, we’re here now, and Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Liam Hemsworth, and It Follows breakout Maika Monroe are here to take the battle to the big slimy things in the sky. With only a few weeks left until wide relase, 20th Century Fox has released a new TV spot for the film, highlight the legacy of Will Smith‘s heroic pilot, as well as two behind-the-scenes featurettes. The two new making-of videos take a look at the filming of a sequence at the Utah Salt Flats, as well as a closer look at the Space Tug, the starship that is piloted by Hemsworth’s character. You can take a look at the new videos below, in preparation for the sci-fi extravaganza.
