20th Century Fox has been playing fast and loose with the Independence Day: Resurgence campaign. Amid the standard trailers and TV spots there have been a number of in-world promo videos, an interactive website that revealed the off-screen death of Will Smith's Captain Steven Hiller, an inexplicable video of Jeff Goldblum chatting with his character David Levinson, and perhaps strangest of all, the Goldblum meme maker.

Now, we've got two new strange-lings to add to the pile. First, a celebration of Brent Spiner's Dr. Okum, the ill-fated oddball military scientist who was assumed to be dead after the first film. When Spiner's name was listed in the returning cast the general reaction was "Huh? But he was strangled to death by an alien tentacle." Nope. Turns out he was only strangled to coma. The video below clears it all up (not really) and indulges in a couple stoner jokes along the way.

Next up, and possibly even stranger. A video promoting tourism at the Las Vegas ruins, where, you know, thousands and thousands of people died in the first film. It's a pretty damn cheeky, super dark bit of humor. Watch for yourself below.

Independence Day: Resurgence opens June 24th and stars Liam Hemsworth, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Maika Monroe, Jessie Usher, William Fichtner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Travis Tope, Sela Ward, and Vivica A. Fox.
