Sony Pictures has released a new Inferno trailer, and it looks possibly even worse than Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code, which is saying something since those movies are quite poor. In the latest Robert Langdon adventure, the professor is on the run to uncover a mystery and stop a virus from being unleashed on the world population. Naturally, the clues to stopping this are hidden in works of ancient literature, specifically, Dante’s Inferno.

Watch this trailer, it’s almost like a parody of a real movie, and you wonder how badly Tom Hanks wants to be an action star if he’s willing to subject himself to dialogue like “Dante’s death mask…yes!” and scenes where he’s chased around by a drone. The whole film looks beyond silly, but at least it looks silly to the point where it’s entertaining.

What do you think of the latest Inferno trailer?  Were you a fan of Angels & Demons and/or The Da Vinci Code?  How much trouble can a rogue symbolgist get into?  Sound off in the comments section.

Check out the new Inferno trailer below. The film opens October 28th and also stars Felicity Jones, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Ben Foster, and Sidse Babett Knudsen.

Here’s the official synopsis for Inferno:

Academy Award® winner Ron Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown’s (Da Vinci Code) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series, Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to stop a madman from unleashing a global virus that would wipe out half of the world’s population.
