Last week I had the opportunity to visit Pixar's 22-acre campus in Emeryville, California. I might have had a little too much fun exploring the halls, checking out the abundance of incredible artwork, picking out the must-haves at the gift shop, admiring the basketball court and cafe menu, but seeing concept art and finished footage from Inside Out truly was the highlight of the experience.

The movie centers on 11-year-old Riley (voiced by Kaitlyn Dias). When her parents force her to move from her cozy childhood home in Minnesota to a rather drab townhouse in San Francisco, she isn't happy about it and her emotions know it. While Riley tries to get by in the real world, Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) do what they can to help her keep it together from HQ in the mind world.

I'll have loads of information on the incredible amount of time, development and creativity that went into bringing Riley's emotions to life in write-ups and interviews, but for now, check out a whole batch of new photos Disney sent over. We've got two new Inside Out images, concept art, behind-the-scenes photos and a series of visuals that reveals how the filmmakers created the console shot. Check out all of those images below and click here to read my thoughts on the first 56 minutes of the film.

Here’s the official synopsis for Inside Out:

From the tepuis of South America to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In 2015, he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all – inside the mind of an 11-year-old named Riley.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
