Last month, Warner Bros. announced that Brad Bird’s excellent animated film The Iron Giant would be returning to theaters as The Iron Giant: Signature Edition, which meant that the film would not only be re-mastered, but also contain new scenes.

The studio has now released The Iron Giant: Signature Edition trailer, and it takes an action-based approach to the material, but I’m already sold on seeing this movie in theaters. It’s one of my all-time favorite films, but I didn’t find it until after it had left theaters (the film flopped when it opened in August 1999). Now that I can’t wait to see it on the big screen even though I know I will probably weep in front of strangers when it comes to “Superman…”

Check out the The Iron Giant: Signature Edition trailer below. The movie will play at 7:30pm local time on September 30th and again at midnight on October 4th. Click here to get tickets. Additionally, the Signature Edition will premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and Yahoo! Movies reports that the film will be available on Blu-ray this fall (WB’s previous announcement made mention of a home release, but didn’t say anything about a Blu-ray, which indicated that the film would only be released digitally).

[Update: Warner Bros. has informed us that the Blu-ray is not coming out this year, but there should be an announcement on when the Blu-ray is coming before 2015 is over.]
