Notice to all those who live in Wilmington, NC or can move there in the next few weeks.  You can be an extra in Caged Heat!  That's right, you can hang on the set with Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Scarlett Johanssen in this Marvel superhero sequel.  Oh right, need to mention: Caged Heat is the working title for Iron Man 3.  OLV pointed us to a Facebook page seeking extras to shoot Caged Heat in Wilmington, right where Iron Man 3 will start production in a few weeks.  Click the link if you're interested.  Otherwise, hit the jump for a recap of what we know about the sequel.Iron-Man-3-poster Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) co-wrote and directed the sequel. Possible plot details leaked last month.  Here's the gist:

  • The story may revolve around nanobot technology that can turn regular men into supervillains and Tony Stark into more than just a man in a suit.
  • The nanobot idea is supposed to appear in The Avengers, since there is a link between the nanobot technology and the super-soldier serum that turned Steve Rogers into Captain America.
  • It was suggested that there will be multiple villains, but no word on which characters might make an appearance.

Iron Man 3 starts shooting in May and will film through the summer.  Downey is very optimistic, saying earlier in the year:

“I think that we have an opportunity with the third Iron Man to make the best of the three, and maybe one of the better superhero movies that’s ever been made.  But I think we have to remember what made the first one good.  It was very character-driven.  It was very odd.  It was kind of outrageous.  And so I think we have to have the courage to trust that the audience is really kind of cool, and smart.”

Iron Man 3 opens on May 3, 2013.  Iron Man himself will be seen much sooner when The Avengers drops on May 4, 2012.
