You may have heard some positive buzz on the indie horror film It Follows from the festival circuit these past few months, and apparently the strong word did not fall on deaf ears. While originally intended for a VOD release after a limited opening, RADiUS has opted to expand writer/director David Robert Mitchell’s horror pic to 1,200 theaters starting this Friday, March 27th—news that was originally broken by the folks at Bloody Disgusting last week. The studio was bolstered by highly positive reviews for the pic (read Perri's glowing review here), as well as the fact that it had the best limited opening for a horror film since 2007’s Paranormal Activity.

It Follows stars Maika Monroe (The Guest) as Jay, a young teenager who, after a strange sexual encounter, finds herself plagued by nightmarish visions and a sense that something is…following her. Perri was a big fan of the film, calling it “thoughtful, engaging and just an all-around blast to watch,” and singling out its uniqueness in her review. I’ve heard the buzz, and now I’m eager to catch the film myself when it opens wide this weekend.

Check out the trailer for It Follows below, and check your local listings to see if it’s coming to a theater near you this weekend (odds are it will be). The movie also stars Jake Weary, Lili Sepe, and Keir Gilchrist and will be available on VOD and DVD sometime later this year. Also be sure to check out Perri's interview with Mitchell if you missed it.
