Last night at the red carpet for the MTV Movie Awards, I was able to catch up with Jake Abel (Percy Jackson, D.J. Caruso's upcoming sci-fi film I Am Number Four) and Nicola Peltz (The Last Airbender). Abel provided us with some info about his part in I Am Number Four and said he was “one of the main antagonists”. Peltz talked about her role as Katara in M. Night Shymalan’s The Last Airbender and her next project, Unbound Captives, which co-stars Robert Pattinson, Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. She also mentioned that she has seen Airbender (but only in 2D) and it’s “amazing”.

Hit the jump for the full interviews and make sure to check out my red carpet interviews with Jackass director Jeff Tremaine and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World director Edgar Wright.

First up, Jake Abel spoke about the plot of I Am Number Four, his role in the film and what the shooting schedule for the film is like:

Can you tell us a little bit about I Am Number Four? We haven’t heard that much about the plot, what should we look forward to?

ABEL: Basically it’s about this kid who has escaped from this alien planet where there was an essential genocide from these kind of assassin, these bad alien assassins, and he comes to earth and there’s nine others and they’re all kind of spread out and hiding and trying to blend in throughout the entire world and he has a protector trying to keep him safe and so he’s trying to blend in in this small town in Ohio and he’s trying to hide from these assassins.

And who exactly do you play?

ABEL: I play one of the main antagonists. His name’s Mark Janes. He’s a football player in the town. He’s kind of like that head, top dog and now this kid’s kind of moving in on his turf and his girlfriend so he’s not really taking to well to it.

So you’re starting filming tomorrow you said? Where are you heading off to?

ABEL: Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh, PA.

How long are you gonna be shooting?

ABEL: I’ll be there for a couple months.

Ok cool, what do you have coming up, do you know?

ABEL: Nothing after that, this is the only thing after that so far that I have lined up, you know, and we’ll see.

Great talking to you, congratulations on everything.

ABEL: Thanks.

Next up, Nicola Peltz discusses her role as Katara in The Last Airbender and her next project, Unbound Captives. Note that Peltz says she has only seen the film in 2D and given that the film was being converted into 3D in post-production there is a very good chance that the 3D isn’t finished yet:

We’re talking to Nicola Peltz from The Last Airbender, can you tell us about your role?

PELTZ: My role is Katara, in The Last Airbender, I’m a waterbender from the southern water tribe and my character is really strong but also loving. And she has a brother, Soka, played by Jackson Rathbone and she means Aang, along her…and they all go on this journey together. And Aang is played by Noah Ringer.

Have you seen the movie yet?

PELTZ: Yes I have, last week and it’s amazing.

How did the 3-D look?

PELTZ: I actually didn’t get the chance to see it in 3-D, but I cannot wait to see it in 3-D.

We can’t wait either. What do you have coming up after this?

PELTZ: Unbound Captives, I just got cast in it, it hasn’t started filming yet, but its with Rob Pattinson, Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman and Madeline Stowe wrote it and is gonna direct it.

And when do you think you’re gonna start filming?

PELTZ: Not sure, hopefully soon, I cannot wait to do it.

Awesome, thank you so much.

PELTZ: Thank you.
