One of the many films to world premiere footage at this year’s CinemaCon was Sonic the Hedgehog. The film marks the feature debut of director Jeff Fowler and stars Ben Schwartz as the titular hedgehog who finds himself in our world, where he develops a relationship with James Marsden’s Tom Wachowski and of course must go toe-to-toe with the villainous Dr. Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey.

Shortly before getting to see the footage, I got a few minutes with James Marsden on the red carpet backstage. He talked about what he’s excited for fans to see in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, how much fun he had working with Jim Carrey, if he ever expected Westworld to be so popular, his upcoming Netflix series Dead to Me, and more.

Check out what he had to say in the player above and below is exactly what we talked about and the official synopsis.

James Marsden:

  • What is he excited for Sonic fans to see in the film?
  • How much did he get to share the screen with Jim Carrey and how much fun was it working with him?
  • Did he ever expect Westworld to be as popular as it is?
  • What’s coming up next?

Here’s the Sonic the Hedgehog synopsis.

Juvenile delinquent Sonic the Hedgehog and local policeman Tom Wachowski must stop Dr. Eggman from completing his plans for world domination.
