Aquaman director James Wan has settled on his next project, and no, it’s not Aquaman 2. It was announced today that Wan will executive produce and direct the debut episode of the upcoming Netflix series The Magic Order. The show was created at Netflix by Mark Millar, who subsequently turned it into a comic book series illustrated by Olivier Coipel based on designs by the Netflix team.

The story follows five families of magicians who are sworn to protect our world and must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day, they live among us as our neighbors, friends, and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians, and wizards that protect us from forces of darkness.

Wan is executive producing the series alongside Millar and Lindsey Beer, the latter of whom will serve as showrunner. Beer wrote the Netflix original movie Sierra Burgess Is a Loser and the upcoming Chaos Walking, which stars Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley. She also wrote the upcoming Amblin-esque Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.

Wan made his name as a horror director, helming films like Saw and The Conjuring, but he successfully expanded his horizons with Furious 7 and Aquaman. This won’t be Wan’s first brush with television, as he previously directed the pilot for the CBS series MacGyver. He’s expected to return to direct Aquaman 2, which won’t hit theaters until 2022, and he’s also executive producing the DC Universe streaming series Swamp Thing.

A release date for The Magic Order hasn’t yet been announced, but if production begins this year it’ll probably premiere sometime in 2020.
