‘Jason Bourne’: New Trailer Heralds the Return of Matt Damon’s Unstopabble Super Spy

     April 20, 2016

Universal has released a new Jason Bourne trailer. For the latest installment, Matt Damon returns as the title super assassin alongside director Paul Greengrass, who directed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. In the new film, Bourne is drawn out of the shadows once more to face new webs of intrigue and conspiracy, and that means he’s up to his out-witting, gun-slinging, face-smashing combat tactics again.

I’ll just get this out of the way, I’m a massive Bourne fan, so part of me is thrilled just to see him cracking skulls again, but one of the best things about this trailer is how it feels like slipping on your favorite pair of shoes. Which is to say, from the looks of things, they’ve nailed the tone and the tempo of what people have come to love and expect from Bourne franchise.

Julia Stiles also reprises her role in the series alongside newcomers Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones. Jason Bourne arrives in theaters July 29, 2016. Check out the new footage below and sound off in the comments with your thoughts.

Here’s the official synopsis for Jason Bourne:

Matt Damon returns to his most iconic role in Jason Bourne. Paul Greengrass, the director of The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, once again joins Damon for the next chapter of Universal Pictures’ Bourne franchise, which finds the CIA’s most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows.

For Jason Bourne, Damon is joined by Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones, while Julia Stiles reprises her role in the series. Frank Marshall again produces alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment, and Greengrass, Damon, Gregory Goodman and Ben Smith also produce. Based on characters created by Robert Ludlum, the film is written by Greengrass and Christopher Rouse.
