TF1 BEGINS SALES ON JASON MOMOA'S UNDERGROUND FIGHTING DRAMA “KANE”

THE SECOND FEATURE TO BE DIRECTED BY AND STARRING MOMOA WILL BE UNVEILED AT THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Toronto.  September 6, 2013. -  Kane is the dramatic story of an alcoholic former boxer, played by Momoa (Game of Thrones, The Red Road, Conan the Barbarian), who turns to Detroit’s illegal fighting circuit to earn money to pay for his ex-wife’s medical treatment. Once in the lucrative underground fighting scene Kane must face old demons and defeat a merciless rival from his past if he is to save his family and reclaim his lost destiny.

Kane will be shot in January and February 2014 on location in Detroit and delivered late 2014/early 2015.  Momoa’s directorial debut, Road to Paloma, which was financed by Frank Mancuso, Jr’s Boss Media and produced by Momoa and Brian Andrew Mendoza (also the film’s cinematographer) and executive produced by Jamey Pryde and Sarah Shahi was picked up last month for North America and other territories by WWE Studios and Anchor Bay Films.

Kane, written by Robert Homer Mollohan (Kane), is produced by Copperheart Entertainment’s Steven Hoban (Wolves, Haunter, Splice, Black Christmas) and Pride of Gypsies’ Mendoza and Momoa.

“I really wanted to make an action movie with heart and set it in Detroit,” said Momoa.  “The city used to symbolize much of what was grand and noble about America but then lost it all to economic decline and urban decay.  This parallels the story of Kane Malu, a man who is down but not yet out.  Kane is the story of a phoenix rising from the ashes.”

“Jason’s direction in Road to Paloma was very impressive,” said Hoban, “and Kane is the perfect follow up.  The movie combines the beautiful artistry of Road to Paloma with a universal, commercial story about a man who Jason was born to play.  In addition, we have begun to line up an exciting cast.  Everyone is excited about the film.

TF1 International’s Gregory Chambet said, “We expect Kane to pack a one-two punch of action and emotion, coupling Jason's strong sense of visuals he demonstrated in his first film with the impressive combat and physical training he has gone through.”
