Jason Segel Exclusive Video Interview FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL

     April 17, 2008

This is the forth and final of Collider’s video interviews from the Hawaiian junket of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” If you missed the first three, you can click here to watch the Bill Hader interview, click here to watch the Kristen Bell interview, or click here for Russell Brand.

Unless you’ve been in a coma like Steven Seagal in “Hard to Kill,” you know about the new Judd Apatow produced comedy “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” After all, Universal has plastered billboards all over the country about the world’s first romantic disaster comedy and they’ve bombarded the TV with some very funny clips.

And on top of all those things, they flew a number of online and TV journalists to Hawaii and had us interview the stars on the beach. Needless to say, I accepted their gracious invitation and had a great time at the Turtle Bay Resort in Oahu.

As you’ve already heard me say in the previous video interviews, I think “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” is a very funny movie and one that’s absolutely worth checking out. Also, out of all the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, it’s the only one I absolutely recommend. And if you don’t believe my opinion as I did get a free trip, here’s Brian’s review and he didn’t go to Hawaii.

Anyway, enough of my words. I’ve got one interview left and it’s with the man of the hour…Jason Segel.

If you didn’t know, not only is Jason the star of the movie, but he also wrote the film. In fact, a lot of what happens (in the movie) actually happened to Jason in real life. So when you check it out…know the breakup in the film really happened like that.

Another thing to know before you watch the interview…whenit starts you’ll hear me asking two weird questions. Just know both did not originate from my brain as I’d never ask who has the best boobs in Hollywood.

No, both questions came from a fun filled night a few weeks back with the people I mention in the second question. I’d love to say how and why I’m asking these questions, but I don’t rat out my friends.

And for the few one person that doesn’t know the what the movie is about…

Struggling musician Peter Bretter (Jason Segel, Knocked Up, How I Met Your Mother) has spent six years idolizing his girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell, Veronica Mars). He’s the guy left holding her purse in paparazzi photos and accidentally omitted from acceptance award speeches. But his world is rocked when she dumps him and Peter finds himself alone. After an unsuccessful bout of womanizing and an on-the-job nervous breakdown, he sees that not having Sarah may just ruin his life.

To clear his head, Peter takes an impulsive trip to Oahu, where he is confronted by his worst nightmare: his ex and her tragically hip new British-rocker boyfriend, Aldous (Russell Brand), are sharing his hotel. But as he torments himself with the reality of Sarah’s new life, he finds relief in a flirtation with Rachel (Mila Kunis), a beautiful resort employee whose laid-back approach tempts him to rejoin the world. He also finds relief in several hundred embarrassing, fruity cocktails.

For anyone who has ever had their heart ripped out and cut into a billion pieces comes a hilarious, heartfelt look at relationships—featuring Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader and Jack McBrayer. Part romantic comedy, part disaster film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the world’s first romantic disaster comedy.

And one last thing…first, here’s a link to the movie clips from “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and finally, I want to say a big thank you to Universal for inviting Collider to the junket. I had a great time and it was a lot of fun.
