Tony Scott may be continuing his trend of getting better actors than he deserves with Javier Bardem, Jason Statham, and Mickey Rourke circling the director's upcoming film Potzdamer Platz.  The title refers to a train station in Germany, but according to Deadline, the venue is being changed to Puerto Rico, which means there will probably a title change by the time filming begins in the fall.  Deadline also reports that Scott tried to pull his Crimson Tide star Gene Hackman out of retirement but to no avail.  Good for Gene Hackman.

Regular readers of the site know that I have no love for Scott.  I think he directs movies like bad music videos.  He shows no restraint in showing off every obnoxious editing trick at his disposal.  It's as if he's terrified he might lose your attention for more than half a second. He wasn't always like this.  The Last Boy Scout, True Romance and Crimson Tide are good movies.  But those were a long time ago...

Scott's upcoming film Unstoppable, starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, is scheduled to hit theaters on November 12th.
