Andy Serkis Hasn’t Read the Script for Star Wars: Episode VIII

At the recent Empire Awards, Andy Serkis was speaking on the red carpet and was asked, naturally, about the story of Episode VIII. Serkis didn’t have much to say seeing as he HASN’T EVEN READ THE SCRIPT. The Council discusses this news which, really, is not the least surprising. It’s Episode VIII and is just as hyped as Star Wars: The Force Awakens - maybe more. It doesn’t seem too far a stretch to believe Serkis hasn’t read the script yet. It is most likely under lock and key with only the most important characters getting to read it. The Council turns to speculating if Serkis’ role isn’t that big in the next movie, likening his part to that of the Emperor in Return of the Jedi. Of course, as Campea surmises, if Episode VIII opens on the planet of Moraban, then Snoke is probably in the movie a lot and Serkis was just lying to us.

Harrison Ford Talks Han Solo’s Fate in The Force Awakens

Harrison Ford is making the news because of the comments he made on Jimmy Kimmel Live! During his appearance, he talked about Han Solo’s fate, joking that he “wore them down,” referring to the filmmakers and his legendary comments about wanting to die in Jedi. He quickly went serious, however, saying he believed in the move as motivation for the characters around him. Solo served his purpose and died a hero’s death. Harrison was moved by it, as was the audience, and in the end, felt it was a deserving end to a beloved character.

Rumors about Laura Dern’s Character in Episode VIII

Next up are the rumors about Laura Dern's character making the rounds on the ole' internet. So please, everyone, potential spoilers ahead! You will have to take this with a giant grain of salt, as the saying goes. A report from Starwarsnewsnet.com says that Laura Dern’s character is possibly a Military General working for the New Republic. Apparently, there are some scenes she has with Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron. In the report, the two characters have differing opinions on how to handle the First Order threat and Dern's character is especially upset about how the Republic was, you know, blown away in Force Awakens. Which would make anyone upset for sure. The Council discusses this possible story thread and do believe it to make sense in the grand scheme of story.

Taron Egerton Rumors about Han Solo Spin-Off

Last for the news is some comments from possible Young Han Solo finalist – Kingsman’s Taron Egerton. He went on record stating he has heard of the rumors about his possible casting and is, of course, flattered. He played coy saying if Lucasfilm and Disney want to cast him, they know where to find him.

WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH CANON?

Here now is the segment called What’s the Deal with Canon – a discussion on everything in the world of canon that isn’t an Episode from the Saga or Star Wars’ Story.

First, the Council discusses the latest episode of Star Wars Rebels: “The Mystery of Chopper Base.” This led to a conversation about the last teaser released for the Season 2 finale of Rebels, in which Ahsoka Tano is featured having visions of her old master, Anakin, turning to the dark side and becoming Darth Vader. It holds some epic consequences for sure and everyone on the Council is very excited to find out what happens to her character in the finale.

Then it’s on to the books and comics of canon with a discussion on Star Wars Issue #17; Issue # 3 of Obi-Wan and Anakin, the new Star Wars book entitled Bloodline which features a story about Princess Leia that takes place six years before Force Awakens. Lastly, the video games and toys; with a trailer for Lego Star Wars Force Awakens and toys and comics based on Rogue One. For all the fans that love all things canon, it’s an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan.
