Today is March 17th, 2016 and it’s another Collider Jedi Council hosted by Darth “Kristian” Harloff, Mark 2-D-2 Mark Ellis and Obi-John-Kenobi and John Campea. Tiffany Smith is on assignment.

Han Solo Shortlist Down to 3 Actors

The council first looks at the casting report released the other day by THR, the three names now linked as the front runners. Though Variety cautions that there might be as much as three more names yet to be released, for now, we have Hail Caesar’s! Alden Ehrenreich, Transformers Age of Extinction’s Jack Reynor and Kingsman’s Taron Egerton.

Episode VIII Wraps from Dubrovnik

Next up is the report from Dubrovnik where filming has wrapped on the mysterious location. With many shots of the exteriors and actors in costume (and make-up) the council is excited… Why? Because there is now, officially, film in the can from Episode VIII! But some of the council members really want to know… what’s the deal with the Rogue One trailer? That's the one Star Wars movie in the immediate future we want to hear (see) more about.

New Planet Rumored for Episode VIII?

Hey guess what? SPOILER ALERT. This is a rumor as of now, but some of the images leaked from set is that of a location previously mentioned that might be a new planet called (REDACTED) with a funeral for (REDACTED). See what we did there? We are pretty sure we know that you know what we’re talking about but, just in case, we’re keeping it quiet. With these rumors, you never know. The council goes deep into the rumor and if it could be true based on the little info we know from the (possible) story moving forward.

Episode VIII Shooting on the Ocean

Speaking of rumors, because of so many of these leaked images, many more rumors are popping up – that seem to be solely based on speculation. The latest are of some people in costume on a boat in the middle of the ocean. The council wonder - with some believing - that the location could be (REDACTED’S) funeral. See what we did there? We’ll move on now.

Disney Trademarks “Shadow Troopers”

Why would Disney trademark an old name from an old video game? That’s the question the council members ask in regards to the news of Disney trademarking “Shadow Troopers.” Everyone firmly believes that this isn’t just the Disney lawyers bored at work but rather, confirmation that some expanded universe characters have been cherry picked by the story group and will most likely be used for Rogue One. It makes sense that an all black, special ops stormtrooper would be used to combat the Rebel spies who stole the Death Star plans.

J.J. Abrams on His Role in Star Wars Universe

Though J.J. Abrams has revealed he will remain on board as EP for the next couple Star Wars movies in the sequel saga, many believe that because of his comments he will never return to direct a Star Wars movie again. But on the council, Campea especially, believes he is NOT done. In the least. J.J. elevated Star Wars to the next level and is part of an elite club of directors now. Campea believes J.J. Abrams will definitely be back for another round of Star Wars filmmaking.

WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH CANON?

star-wars-rebels-poster

This is a part simply called ‘What’s the Deal with Canon?’ It’s news on all things canon that is not associated with the movies – be it the new Episodes or Star Wars stories. There so much canon now out there – the tv shows, the comics, the books and video games; this is the section where we talk everything else out there.

First up, the council talks about the less than stellar episode of Star Wars Rebels entitled "The Forgotten Droid." Next, the finished run of Marvel comics Kanan with the series finally coming to end. Everyone agreed it was a great run, one of the best from Marvel. And lastly, and finally for the fans - an update for Star Wars Battlefront with a newly released Outer Rim expansion pack that places you right in Jabba's Palace!
