Steven Spielberg Had a Hand in Casting Young Han Solo Movie

For the first story up on today's Jedi Council, a report from the Hollywood Reporter shed some light on the casting of Alden Ehrenreich for the Young Han Solo movie. Turns out, Steven Spielberg (who discovered Alden from a Bat Mitzva video!) and Francis Ford Coppola called Kathleen Kennedy personally vouching for Alden. Quite the recommendation!

Rogue One Panel Announced for Star Wars Celebration Europe

In your "no sh*t news" of the day on Jedi Council, it was revealed by StarWars.com that Rogue One director Gareth Edwards and Kathleen Kennedy will be on a panel opening day July 15th for Celebrations Europe. As expected, the two will introduce Rogue One, be it new footage, a new trailer or most likely, as the panel suppose, a special reveal of Darth Vader!

Tom Hardy Rumored to Cameo in Episode VIII

From a report by Making Star Wars, we come now to a Spoiler Alert! Yes, that's right a spoiler alert. For the Star Wars purists, look away. Or cover your ears; whatever form of action you need to do to avoid the news about Tom Hardy's potential part in Star Wars. I won't list it here - just know it's in the above video. So yeah, you've been warned.

Cate Blanchett in a Star Wars Movie?

While Cate Blanchett is not officially in a Star Wars movie, in a recent interview it was revealed, by her, that she would just LOVE to be in a Star Wars movie! The actress spoke to reporters at a recent premiere and was asked if she loved Star Wars and, moreover, if she would want to be in one of the movies. She of course LOVES Star Wars and would jump at the chance. The panel discussed the possibility of it ever happening and, surprise, everyone would love to see her in a future movie.

What’s the Deal with Canon?

Here now is the segment called What’s the Deal with Canon – a discussion on everything in the world of canon that isn’t one of the movies be it Episodes or Star Wars’ Story.

On this segment, the panel look at the tweets Pablo Hidalgo sent out revealing a character by the name of Snoke in one of the old YA Star Wars Legends' books. Now, could it be THE Snoke? But it's from an old line of books - now called Legends - so it's not considered canon! So the council wonder... Is Pablo just screwing with the fans?

Next it's reviews of Darth Vader and Poe Dameron comics with Kristian Harloff - AKA Harloff Minor - the only one reading the comics (the rest of the panel couldn't get to this week). The second to last bit of news to happen this week in canon is the report from Disney Infinity about them cancelling the line of video games that were popular with the fans but, apparently, not popular with the shareholders.

Lastly, a new documentary from Complex Media looks at the BioWare company producing their line of Star Wars Games that include Knights of the Old Republic. Jedi Council plays a small clip from the documentary; which you can see in full posted up on Collider.com.
