The first Jem and the Holograms movie images have been released for director Jon M. Chu’s (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) adaptation of the 1980s animated TV series, as the cast is now unveiled.  Things have been moving fast on the Jason Blum-produced film, as it was only just announced a little over a month ago.  Chu’s cast is led by Aubrey Peeples (Nashville) as Jem, Stefanie Scott (Flipped) as Kimber, Hayley Kiyoko (The Fosters) as Aja, and Aurora Perrineau (Pretty Little Liars) as Shana.  For those unfamiliar with the property, the story revolves around the adventures of the titular rock band and its mysterious frontwoman Jem.  In this adaptation, Jem is an orphaned teenager who becomes an internet sensation and subsequently embarks on a music-driven scavenger hunt with her band.  Blum previously told us that the pic will be rated PG, and I’m interested to see how this curious project turns out.
