While production is currently underway on Marvel’s first Netflix series, Daredevil, the studio is now working on putting together its next show.  There will be four separate Netflix series in all, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, followed by an Avengers-style team-up miniseries called The Defenders.  The Jessica Jones show is next after Daredevil, and with Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight) onboard to spearhead the 13-episode drama, Marvel is currently testing actresses to lead the series.  Moreover, Luke Cage is poised to make his first appearance in 6-7 episodes of Jessica Jones, so testing for that character is underway as well.

Find out which familiar names are up for the roles after the jump.

Per Deadline, the list of actresses who have been invited to test for the lead role in Jessica Jones includes Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad), Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow, Dracula).  The story of Jessica Jones revolves around a superhero suffering from PTSD who decides to hang up her costume for good and open her own detective agency where she assists other superheroes instead.  Ritter and Daddario both seem like solid choices to me, with the latter having proven to be a formidable talent in the Percy Jackson films before tackling more dramatic material in HBO’s True Detective.

As for Luke Cage, apparently two of the names in contention to play the incredibly strong street fighter are Lance Gross (Crisis) and Mike Colter (The Good Wife, The Following).  Cage is poised to appear in 6-7 episodes of Jessica Jones before leading his own Netflix series down the road, after the Iron Fist show.  His introduction in Jessica Jones makes sense given that the two characters have a romantic history in the comics.

Pretty solid choices, right?  And unlike the DC shows, these Marvel series will take place within the same universe as the films, opening up the possibility for feature film crossovers in the future.  Given these choices, who do you think should play Jessica Jones?  Sound off in the comments below.
