One great thing about the state of crowd-funding today is that director's like Joe Dante (Gremlins, The Howling, The 'Burbs) can afford to bring their own creative vision to light without bowing to studio pressures.  The downside is that they're dependent on fans to foot the bill.  In the case of Dante's latest project, Burying the Ex, a big portion of the donations will go to applying CG effects to augment his practical work on set.  In addition to helping fund the film, donors can get a variety of rewards in return, from DVDs/Blu-rays, posters and t-shirts, to signed memorabilia, collectible props and VIP premiere passes.

Burying the Ex centers on Max (Anton Yelchin), a nice guy who begins to have second thoughts about continuing his relationship with his girlfriend, Evelyn (Ashley Greene) after they move in together.  Max is saved the trouble of breaking up with his overbearing partner when she dies suddenly in a freak accident.  Back on the single scene a few weeks later, Max meets up with Olivia (Alexandra Daddario), who might just be his soul mate.  Too bad Evelyn is back from the grave as an undead zombie who's out to get him back, by any means necessary.  Hit the jump for more.

Head on over to Burying the Ex's FundAnything page for all the details.  Also, be sure to read up on Haleigh's interviews with both Yelchin and Greene.  Check out a teaser for Burying the Ex below to find out just where your donation will go:

Synopsis:

Burying The Ex follows Max (YELCHIN), an all-around nice guy, and his overbearing but incredibly beautiful girlfriend, Evelyn (GREENE). Their relationship takes a nosedive after they decide to move in together and Evelyn turns out to be a controlling, manipulative nightmare. Max realizes it’s time to call it quits, but there’s just one problem: He’s too afraid to break up with her. Fate steps in when Evelyn is involved in a freak accident and dies, leaving Max single and ready to mingle. Several weeks later, he has a chance encounter with Olivia, a cute and spirited girl who just might be his soul mate. But that same night, Evelyn returns from the grave as a dirt-smeared zombie and she’s determined to get Max back...even if that means turning him into one of the undead!
