Director Joel Schumacher has settled on his next project, a suspense-thriller called The Hive. Scripted by Rich D'Ovidio (Exit Wounds), the story centers on “on an emergency operator who must confront a killer from her past to save a young girl's life.” Variety reports that Troika Pictures will be producing the project.

Schumacher has had a rough last few years (or decades, depending on who you talk to). After 2007’s Jim Carrey vehicle The Number 23, the director saw a minimal release of his follow-up Blood Creek, and his next film Twelve was released last year to downright abysmal reviews. Schumacher wrapped on his latest film, Tresspass, last fall. The film stars Nicholas Cage and Nicole Kidman and is poised to be released sometime this year.
