While director John Landis famously helmed classic comedies like Animal House and The Blues Brothers, he also dipped his toe into the horror genre as the writer and director of the 1981 masterwork An American Werewolf in London. He’s yet to do another horror film, and recently while doing press for his upcoming black comedy Burke and Hare (starring Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis) he revealed that he’s currently in the process of writing a horror film with French filmmaker Alexandre Gavras. Hit the jump to see what Landis had to say.

Landis broke the news in a conversation with Bloody Disgusting, saying:

“Actually, I'm writing [a horror film] with Alexandre Gavras and we're shooting it within the next two years in Paris. Yeah, a little monster movie. It has no title [yet].”

The director also revealed that the cast will have to be bilingual because they’re shooting it in French and English. He said he knows who’s going to star in it, but it’s all “off the radar” right now so he couldn’t say who. Landis didn't specify whether he would be directing the film or not, but hopefully he takes the helm. The creature effects in An American Werewolf in London were revolutionary, and the idea of Landis doing another monster movie is wildly enticing.

Burke and Hare is set to open in the U.S. on September 9th.
