"Dexter" is easily one of my favorite shows on television.  Michael C. Hall and the show's writers have crafted an unforgettable character whose charming wit is only matched by his uncanny brilliance and manipulative abilities.  The show never needs to go too far out of its way to make such a serial killer likable because we find his charm and intellect so admirable.  It's a little twisted.

But Dexter Morgan will have a new worthy opponent this season with John Lithgow set to appear for all twelve episode as the "Trinity Killer" due to his proclivity to deal out murder in threes.  Pursued to Miami by Special Agent Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine returning, hopefully for the full season as well) Dexter is brought on to the investigation and becomes fascinating by Lithgow's methods and ability to evade capture for three decades. All I know is that while I'm sure Lithgow is up to the task, he'll definitely have to step-up to match Jimmy Smits' incredible performance last season.

The fourth season of "Dexter" premieres on Showtime on Sunday, September 27th.
