Yesterday, Universal released the first Jurassic World clip online. Judging by the comments section, our vocal readers weren’t too impressed with it and cited a lack of chemistry between lead actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. I agree with that assessment, and I also think the jokes land with a thud. Avengers: Age of Ultron writer-director Joss Whedon also didn’t care for the clip, and slammed it for being sexist:

It’s important to remember that this is 90 seconds taken out of an entire movie, and that context is important. That being said, Universal decided this should be the first clip to debut from one of their blockbuster movies, and that’s a bit disappointing. Perhaps the final film will have Howard’s character being more of a badass, but in this clip, she comes off as someone who can’t keep up with the dashing hero. Jurassic World opens in 3D on June 12th, and also stars Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Vincent D’OnofrioIrrfan Khan, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy and Judy Greer.
