With Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Overlord now available on Blu-ray and Digital, I recently got to sit down with Jovan Adepo to talk about making the action-packed World War II monster movie. If you haven’t seen the film – which I definitely recommend – Overlord follows a group of U.S. paratroopers who stumble across supernatural Nazi experiments meant to fight the Allies. Directed by Julius Avery (Son of a Gun), from a screenplay by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) and Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), the film also stars Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, Jacob Anderson, Iain De Caestecker, John Magaro, and Bokeem Woodbine. For more on the film watch the trailer or read Haleigh Foutch’s review.
During the interview, Adepo talked about what it was like filming the intense opening of the film, how he prepared for the role, what sequences he was nervous to do before filming began, how The Leftovers helped him prepare for the role, and more. In addition, he also talked about making Jack Ryan season 2, Ava DuVernay’s five-part limited-series Central Park Five, Sorry for Your Loss season 2 and more.
Check out what Jovan Adepo had to say in the player above and below is exactly what we talked about followed by the official synopsis.

Here’s the official synopsis for Overlord:
With only hours until D-Day, a team of American paratroopers drop into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission that’s crucial to the invasion’s success. Tasked with destroying a radio transmitter atop a fortified church, the desperate soldiers join forces with a young French villager to penetrate the walls and take down the tower. But, in a mysterious Nazi lab beneath the church, the outnumbered G.I.s come face-to-face with enemies unlike any the world has ever seen. From producer J.J. Abrams, Overlord is a thrilling, pulse-pounding action adventure with a twist.
