Production on Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman follow-up Justice League is well underway in London, but the massive superhero team-up pic just added a new name...and it may not be a familiar one. Welsh actor Julian Lewis Jones, who previously appeared in Invictus and Zero Dark Thirty and currently stars in the UK series Stella, has signed on for a mystery role in the film, which already boasts a stacked cast.

In addition to the central cast, which sees the returns of Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, along with proper introductions for Jason Momoa's Aquaman, Ezra Miller's Flash, and Ray Fisher's Cyborg, Justice League also stars J.K. Simmons as a buff, badass Jim Gordon, Willem Dafoe as the Atlantean power player Vulko, and Game of Thrones breakout (and Brienne of Tarth's OTP), Kristofer Hivju as an ancient Atlantean king.

While he didn't clarify which role he'll be playing, Jones revealed his casting to Wales Online:

I’m not allowed to say yet what part I play but let’s just say I’ve a role in what will likely be the most expensive film ever made. It was filmed at Warner Brother’s studio at Leavesden as well as at various locations around the UK and Iceland. Directed by Zack Snyder it stars Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons and host of A-list actors. I’m just happy to have been involved and I’m looking forward to the movie’s release which will be next year.

So, he didn't exactly say he's starring in Justice League, but yeah, that's Justice League. The question, of course, is who he'll be playing. On a movie of this scale, he could be playing pretty much any kind of role, from "Harried Gotham PD Officer" to "Scared Dangling Henchman," but there is one major role we know for sure that hasn't officially been cast.

During Steve's recent visit to the Justice League set, we learned that Steppenwolf would emerge as the film's central villain, and what's more, producer Deborah Snyder revealed that the deal for the actor playing him had yet to close. Now, for my money, that role is probably going to go to more of a household name, but the character was basically introduced in a CGI deleted scene, so who knows? Thanks to his blonde hair and Welsh-ness others have speculated he could be playing John Constantine, though I would be pretty bowled over if that was true. Given that he's not allowed to say who he's playing, it's likely he's playing someone we've at least heard of before, but for now all we can do is speculate, and speculate wildly. Have at it in the comments.

Here's the official Justice League movie synopsis

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.  Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.  But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
