Keanu Reeves, Diego Luna, Jim Carrey, and Suki Waterhouse have joined Jason Momoa in the cast of The Bad Batch. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but the film is described as a dystopian love story set in a Texas wasteland, and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night director Ana Lily Armipour is set to write and direct the project. Filming begins in April in the Los Angeles area. Waterhouse will play Arlen, Momoa will play Miami Man, Luna will play Jimmy, Reeves will play The Dream and Carrey will play The Hermit.

I know very little about this movie, but I do know that if Keanu Reeves is playing someone called "The Dream", then the film has been expertly cast. Amirpour has received steady acclaim since A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night debuted at Sundance last year, and Annapurna Pictures consistently delivers some of the most impressive, filmmaker-driven movies on the market, so it sounds like an ideal partnership. Annapurna’s Megan Ellison will produce alongside VICE’s Danny Gabai and Sina Sayyah. The two companies collaborated as marketing partners on A24’s Spring Breakers, The Grandmaster, and Her. Annapurna plan to sell The Bad Batch at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

CAST ANNOUNCED FOR ANA LILY AMIRPOUR’S ‘THE BAD BATCH’ FROM ANNAPURNA PICTURES AND VICE 

 

LOS ANGELES (March 19, 2015) – Suki Waterhouse, Jason Momoa, Diego Luna, Keanu Reeves and Jim Carrey have joined the cast of Ana Lily Amirpour’s THE BAD BATCH. Amirpour, winner of the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Director for her debut feature A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT, wrote and will direct the new film produced by Annapurna Pictures and VICE.

THE BAD BATCH is a dystopian love story set in a Texas wasteland. Production on the film begins in April around Los Angeles.

Suki Waterhouse will play Arlen, Jason Momoa will play Miami Man, Diego Luna will play Jimmy, Keanu Reeves will play The Dream and Jim Carrey will play The Hermit.

Annapurna’s Megan Ellison will produce alongside VICE’s Danny Gabai and Sina Sayyah. Annapurna’s Sammy Scher will be the executive overseeing the day-to-day development and production of the project while VICE’s Shane Smith and Eddy Moretti will Executive Produce.

Annapurna International plans to sell THE BAD BATCH at the Cannes Film Festival.
