20th Century Fox is very happy with Kingsman, and they’re moving fast on an untitled sequel. The original film opened earlier this year and raked in $413 million worldwide, and now that the studio has nailed down star Taron Egerton to return, they’ve set Kingsman 2 to open on June 16, 2017.

That’s a far more competitive slot than Kingsman: The Secret Service had on February 13th of this year since the demographic split sent women to Fifty Shades of Grey, and Matthew Vaughn’s movie got primarily men. Compare that to Kingsman 2, which probably won’t have to worry about the family crowd going to Cars 3 that same weekend, but it will be wedged one week after World War Z 2 and one week before Wonder Woman.

So what does that mean for Kingsman? Will it have to soften up and play nice in a crowded summer season, or will they stick to the hard-edged content that made the first movie such a success? The studio clearly sees franchise potential, and it’s probably best to take a “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it,” approach to the sequel. The R-rating may put a ceiling on the movie, but PG-13 will push away all the fans who made the R-rated original a hit.

The bigger question is whom they’ll get to direct and if they’ll be able to find a way to get Colin Firth back for another go-round.

Also, what do you want to see in a sequel?  Should they bring Firth back or would it be too convoluted to try?  Or is this all a fool's errand and we're setting up for a repeat of Kick-Ass 2 where it takes Matthew Vaughn's handle on Mark Millar's material in order to effectively translate it to the screen?  Sound off in the comments section.
