Before we even touch this information, there are some major Kingsman: The Secret Service spoilers in this article. Do not read this if you haven’t seen the film yet! Last Warning: There’s a big Kingsman: The Secret Service plot spoiler here.

Now that that’s out of the way, Kingsman: The Secret Service had a big weekend at the box office. It scored $36.2 million for the three-day weekend and then $42 million for the full holiday weekend, bringing its worldwide total to $85.8 million, clearing its reported $81 million production budget. There was a little bit of sequel talk even before the film hit theaters on February 13th, but now that it’s a certified hit, it’s no surprise that the Kingsman 2 discussions continue.

During an interview with USA Today, director Matthew Vaughn revealed that Colin Firth may return for the sequel:

“A lot of people are very upset that Colin might not be in the sequel but I’m coming up with ideas at the moment. If people buy tickets in America, I’ve got a feeling we’ll figure out a way for having Colin back.”

colin-firth-kingsman-the-secret-serviceFirth is fantastic in the film, so I’d be thrilled to have him back, but you’ve got to wonder, how can Vaughn possibly pull that off in a believable manner? If he does come back for Kingsman 2, I’m betting Vaughn takes the “he’s not really dead” approach. In the movie, Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) just shoots him and that’s it. It certainly looked like a fatal shot on screen, but I’d imagine Kingsman has some seriously skilled doctors on staff, so perhaps Harry Hart survived it.

If that is the case, it could be interesting to see Harry return to Kingsman and have to adjust to life with Eggys as a full-blown agent. Vaughn did say:

“And Eggsy is really the real, true modern gentleman spy. It really isn’t Harry Hart. Harry Hart is the old cliché of what you think a gentleman spy is. Eggsy will be taking on a whole new way.”

This is all speculation, but the idea of seeing the super experienced Harry Hart adapting to Eggsy’s “new way” could work. What do you think? Could Harry Hart come back from the dead? Was he ever dead at all? Or, could Firth return for Kingsman 2 as a completely different character?
