Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz and Richard Jenkins LET ME IN.jpg

The official cast for director Matt Reeves ("Cloverfield") American remake of "Let the Right One in" was announced today and it's Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz and Richard Jenkins. Kodi will be playing Owen (Oskar), Chloe will be Abby (Eli), and Richard Jenkins will play the lead adult character known as Hakan in the original film. More after the jump:

While some people are outraged that a remake is already happening to such a beloved film, I guess I'm in the minority by saying I'm cool with it. The fact is, 99% of the people who will end up seeing "Let Me In" will never have seen the original. By making a remake, many additional viewers will hopefully seek out the original and give it a chance. Of course, everything I'm writing is assuming Matt Reeves is making a great film. If he doesn't deliver the goods, well, my kind words will turn to venom quick enough. I just always give people the benefit of the doubt, and I really loved "Cloverfield".

Let me close this off by saying if you haven't seen "Let the Right One In", do yourself a favor and rent it this weekend. It's a great film that's worth your time.

If you aren't familiar with the film, "Let the Right One In" is based on the bestselling Swedish novel, "Lat den Ratte Komma In", by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist. It's a vampire tale about a young boy who befriends a girl new to his neighborhood. It just so happens she is a vampire. I believe the remake is going to contemporize the story. More as we get it.
