Sony Pictures has released the first images from Clea DuVall’s upcoming romantic comedy Happiest Season. The film stars Kristen Stewart as Abby, who’s planning to propose to her girlfriend Harper (Mackenzie Davis) at her family’s annual Christmas dinner, but is shocked to discover that Harper has kept their relationship a secret from her family.

They pretty much had me at Kristen Stewart/Mackenzie Davis holiday rom-com, but I also really enjoyed DuVall’s previous directorial effort, The Intervention, so I’m eager to see what happens here, especially when you've got two great actresses in the lead roles. Also, it’s been a minute since we had a really good holiday-themed romantic comedy. The fact that people are always digging out Love Actually for some holiday themed joy shows that the genre could use some fresh life, and hopefully Happiest Season provides it. We could certainly use some holiday cheer this year more than ever.

Check out the Happiest Season images below, and be on the lookout for the trailer, which is likely to arrive soon. Happiest Season opens November 25th and also stars Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Daniel Levy, Victor Garber, and Mary Steenburgen.

Here’s the official synopsis for Happiest Season:

Meeting your girlfriend’s family for the first time can be tough. Planning to propose at her family’s annual Christmas dinner - until you realize that they don’t even know she’s gay - is even harder. When Abby (Kristen Stewart) learns that Harper (Mackenzie Davis) has kept their relationship a secret from her family, she begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew. HAPPIEST SEASON is a holiday romantic comedy that hilariously captures the range of emotions tied to wanting your family’s acceptance, being true to yourself, and trying not to ruin Christmas.
