First Official KUNG FU PANDA 3 Trailer Features a “Heartfelt” Father/Son Reunion

     June 18, 2015

The first official trailer for DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 3 has been released online. Directed by Jennifer Yuh and Alessandro Carloni, the film finds Po (Jack Black) stumbling upon his father Li (Bryan Cranston), who reveals to him the existence of a community of pandas living in secret. This trailer really doesn’t delve into the plot as it’s very much a teaser, but we do get to see the moment of reunion between Po and Li, and it’s played wonderfully by Black and Cranston.

This sequel has suffered a couple of delays, initially being pushed up to Christmas 2015 before DreamWorks subsequently opted to move the release to the following year after Star Wars: The Force Awakens laid claim to basically the entire month of December. Following a string of misfires, DreamWorks Animation is currently undergoing a pretty significant evolution, as the studio has opted to abandon its practice of releasing two or three films a year in favor of focusing on less quantity, more quality. Here’s hoping Kung Fu Panda 3 kicks off this new chapter with a bang.
