Now playing in theaters is writer-director Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas.  The story finds Madea (Perry) getting coaxed into helping a friend visit her daughter (Tika Sumpter) for Christmas.  Per the synopsis, “As the small, rural town prepares for its annual Christmas Carnival, new secrets are revealed and old relationships are tested while Madea dishes her own brand of Christmas Spirit to all.”  A Madea Christmas also stars Larry the Cable Guy, Kathy NajimyChad Michael Murray, Anna Maria Horsford, and Alicia Witt.  For more on the film, watch the trailer. A few days ago, I landed a video interview with Larry the Cable Guy in New York City.  He talked about what it means to be part of a holiday movie, the way Perry likes to work, having the freedom to ad lib most of his lines, the status of a potential Cars 3, and more.  Hit the jump to watch.

Larry the Cable Guy:

  • What does it mean to be part of a holiday movie.
  • Doing R rated ad-libs and not sticking to the script.  Says half the time he's on screen with Kathy Najimy it's ad-libbed.
  • Talks about being able to promote Prilosec OTC in the film (he does commercials for them).
  • How does he like to work and how many takes does he like to do?
  • Any update on a Cars 3?
