A second iconic actor passing away in as many days, screen legend Lauren Bacall passed away at her home in Manhattan today at the age of 89.  She starred in dozens of landmark films including To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, Key Largo and Murder on the Orient Express.  More recent films included a brief appearance as James Caan's publisher in Misery and a role in Lars Von Trier's Manderlay.  She married Humphrey Bogart even though he was 25 years her senior and they remained wed until his death in 1957.  The Bogart estate tweeted the following statement, "with deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall."

While Bacall's work had slowed and her passing is perhaps less surprising than that of Robin Williams yesterday, she (and women like her) will be equally missed in our cinemas. Head below for a clip of one of her most famous lines.
