One project that could easily have been lost in the jungle of superhero cinema and blockbuster movie franchises at Comic-Con is just a part of Nickelodeon's throwback to 90s nostalgia. The youth-skewing network already revealed some early looks at the character redesigns for their Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie project, and today, the first trailer for Legends of the Hidden Temple: The Movie debuted as well!

I'll admit to being curious and cautiously optimistic about this one. Based on the 90s game show hosted by Kirk Fogg (and featuring a talking stone head named Olmec, voiced by Dee Bradley Baker), Legends of the Hidden Temple was one of the rare kids game shows that balanced academic trivia (focused on history) with physical challenges. As this first trailer shows, the TV movie keeps this in mind along with a lot of in-game references for their older fans.

Now, if you grew up watching Legends of the Hidden Temple on Nickelodeon, there's a solid chance you at least smiled at all of those Easter eggs and references in the trailer, even if you found yourself rolling your eyes at the very kid-friendly plot and TV movie acting. But c'mon, seeing Fogg as enthusiastic as ever in his role as host and history guide was great, plus including the Steps of Knowledge, the Temple Guards and their tokens, and Olmec himself was a great boost to the ol' nostalgia center of our brains.

And with that nostalgia as strong as it is in this trailer, Legends of the Hidden Temple is clearly meant as a family friendly movie that kids can enjoy right alongside their parents, who will benefit most from the in-jokes. While framing the story as "Jurassic Park Lite" in which three siblings attending a Hidden Temple-themed amusement park get drawn into a real adventure is a little sillier than a straight-up temple exploration action movie would have been, it sets a perfect tone for a TV movie on Nickelodeon. All that's left to do is choose your team! (Orange Iguana for life.)

The Legends of the Hidden Temple TV movie follows three siblings who break away from a lackluster tour in a jungle, finding themselves immersed in a high-stakes adventure comprised of obstacles that they must complete in order to escape alive. The TV movie will feature many elements from the original game show including: Olmec, a talking head who greets cast members Noah, Sadie and Dudley, and launches them on the adventure of a lifetime; The Steps of Knowledge, the entrance to the temple and launching pad for the mission; and appearances from a green monkey, red jaguar, and silver snakes, among others.

Legends of the Hidden Temple stars Kirk Fogg (original TV show host), Dee Bradley Baker (original voice of Olmec), Isabela Moner, Colin Critchley and Jet Jurgensmeyer.
