A new CW promo for its upcoming series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow first looks at the legends of today, and how they came to be. Starting with Arrow, the (truly awesome) promo juxtaposes pivotal scenes from the TV series as well as those from the comics at lightning speed (Lazarus Pit! Salmon ladder! Beginnings as the Arrow!) before moving on to Barry Allen and The Flash (Particle accelerator explosion! Grodd! Alt timelines!) I adore the way everything melds so seamlessly together, and it really solidifies the series’ dedication to its comic origins.

Finally, the clip turns to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, introducing each new character as they come to life from page to screen. Admittedly, this is the weakest part of the clip only because we don’t yet have a firm connection to this iteration of these (mostly new) characters yet, and there’s also no new footage (which means not much dialogue, somewhat awkwardly). But, if you’re going to recycle a bunch of material, this is certainly the way to do it. The first two segments gave me chills! Check the clip out for yourself below:

Here is the official synopsis for the series, which will debut in early 2016:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends.  Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself.  Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).
