If the big Arrow and The Flash crossover event whetted your appetite for more mass supehero team-ups (which it was definitely designed to do), or maybe just more of Hawkgirl and Hawkman, you're in luck. We're only weeks away from the debut of the multi-character spin-off series, Legends of Tomorrow, which will see characters from both series team up to save the world in a time-traveling confrontation with the big bad imortal Vandal Savage, and undoubtedly a whole bunch of other villains along the way.

The CW has just released a new trailer for the series that teases one of those villains, or in Hawkgirl's words, "a new and very huge problem", in the form of an armored baddie with a very big blaster gun. Fortunately there's not one, not two, but a whole big batch of heroes with a whole bunch of abilities to take him down, including  White Canary, aka the resurrected Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), front and center. Firestorm (Victor Garber and Franz Drameh), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), Hawkman (Falk Hentschel), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), as time-traveler Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill). Watch the new Legends of Tomorrow trailer below (including a timely Star Wars reference from none other than Captain Cold).

The more I see of this show, the more I get excited about it. The creative team, inlcuding Arrow and The Flash creative heads Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim, Sarah Schechter, has rounded up some of the best bit players and supporting characters from both of the anchor shows and given them a zany, free-wheeling concept that can literally go anywhere (and any time). The trailers and promo materials have set up a very distinct vibe from both the brooding, combat-oriented self-seriousness of Arrow and the vibrant sentimentality of The Flash. Comparatively, Legends of Tomorrow looks like a cheeky, swaggering massive-scale sci-fi piece. Plus, it looks like there's a whole lot of Sara Lance kicking ass, and that's pretty much the best thing to come out of Arrow so far.

Legends of Tomorrow premieres on Thursday, January 21st at 8 pm on The CW, following the mid-season returns of The Flash and Arrow on Tuesday, January 19th and Wednesday, January 20th at 8pm respectively. Watch the new The Flash and Arrow trailers here!
