Noah Hawley‘s adaptation of the Legion comics for FX (which feels very far from any other comic book adaptations on TV these days) was one of the most visually astonishing series of 2017. But perhaps the most unexpected thing about it was how much it leaned into horror. It wasn’t as oddly bone-chilling as something like Twin Peaks: The Return in its darkest moments, but Legion most definitely had a tinge of terror to it that was as welcomed as it was unexpected. It gave the series another layer of strangeness, but even more so, really got to the emotional heart of what a struggle with mental illness can feel like.
We don’t know much about Legion‘s second season, and that’s a good thing. The show is best served as an experience we have week to week, wherever David Haller’s mind and powers take us on this journey. Fittingly, the two new promos for the series don’t reveal much, except that there are definitely still some horrifying things happening, and a lot of strangeness on top of that. Check out the clips below; Legion stars Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Amber Midthunder, Jeremie Harris, Bill Irwin, and Jemaine Clement. Season 2 premieres April 3rd on FX.
