Filmmaker Len Wiseman looks to be zeroing in on his next project.  Variety reports that the Underworld director is set to helm the supernatural thriller Black Chapter for Skydance Productions, with a script by Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk).  The story—which was hatched by Wiseman and Penn—revolves around an FBI agent “who is drawn into a classified military program that trains its operatives to use paranormal abilities.”  Wiseman will also produce the pic, and while Skydance has a partnership with Paramount Pictures, they are not currently onboard Black Chapter.

Wiseman last directed the 2012 reboot Total Recall to rather disappointing results, but his 2007 film Live Free or Die Hard was actually quite fun, so hopefully he can inject some of that levity into Black Chapter in order to keep things from delving into the bland territory of Recall.  He was recently attached to direct a reboot of The Mummy at Universal, but subsequently exited that project before helming the pilot for Fox’s Sleepy Hollow.
