We’ve got a couple of new Resident Evil: Retribution nuggets this afternoon. First the good news: Milla Jovovich has confirmed (via Daily Dead) that Li Bingbing (The Forbidden Kingdom) will be playing fan-favorite character Ada Wong in the fifth film in the franchise. In the game series, Wong is a secret agent who works for the Organization. Director Paul W.S. Anderson recently spoke to Steve at length about Retribution and confirmed that in addition to Wong, they are also including game characters Leon Kennedy and Barry Burton in this fifth film. Now the not-so-good news: a stage collapsed this morning on the Retribution set in Toronto, injuring 16 people. Per THR, a wheeled platform suddenly shifted while actors were moving from one area of the stage to another, causing the whole thing to collapse. Thankfully, none of the injuries were life threatening. Amusingly, ambulance staff and firemen responding to the incident had trouble distinguishing real injuries from fake ones as a number of the actors were done up in zombie make-up and fake blood. Resident Evil: Retribution opens in 3D on September 14th, 2012. If you missed Steve’s interview with Anderson, be sure to check it out for more Resident Evil goodness.
