Earlier today, we got a new, full look at what to expect from The Conjuring 2, the latest bag of scares from maestro of the spooky James Wan, who has become known for launching major horror franchises including Saw and Insidious. Lately, he's become just as known for his work as a producer, as he has been courted to helm bigger game like the hugely successful Furious 7 and the hotly anticipated Aquaman. So, it's understandable that he lent his talents strictly as a producer on Lights Out, a brand new ghost story starring Teresa Palmer and Gabriel Batemen, rather than taking the creative helm of the movie.

Instead, David F. Sandberg is serving as a director, adapting his short scary film to a feature-length chiller, and we've got our first full look at the film now via the trailer that debuted at WonderCon 2016. From the looks of things, Lights Out deals in familiar scary thingamajigs - jangly ghosts, sudden appearances, mutilated and distorted faces, etc. -  but that's not to say that I'm not going to be cowering in my seat for most of its runtime, regardless.

Here's the first trailer for Lights Out:

And here's the official synopsis for Lights Out:

From producer James Wan (“The Conjuring”) comes a tale of an unknown terror that lurks in the dark. When Rebecca left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn’t real when the lights went out…and now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie, has reemerged. But this time, as Rebecca gets closer to unlocking the truth, there is no denying that all their lives are in danger…once the lights go out.
