The Collider Movie Talk crew have gushed about Logan but now it's time for them to dive head-first and deep down into the story, characters and specific events that took place in the film. From the opening of the film to the bottom of the credits list, the crew give you their spoiler-heavy review.
Following the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, which featured a nod to the origins of Wolverine in the Weapon X program, Logan promises to feature a bevy of references to the mythology of the titular character, played once again and for the final time by Hugh Jackman. (This will also see the last appearance of the great Patrick Stewart as Professor X.) There have been a myriad of rumors suggesting the different things that could show up, from talk of the original Wolverine costume being used at some point to the infamous "Berserker" mode to an innumerable amount of other stylistic or narrative elements that could be pulled from the copious mythology of this beloved character. Well, we're going through which ones are really there and which ones aren't.
Following Deadpool's astounding $130 million debut, despite being cursed by the dreaded R rating, the expectations for Logan are incredibly high, both in terms of its fiscal success and the satisfaction felt by the most devoted fans of the X-Men franchise. As we reported today, Logan has taken in some $33 million on Friday, along with some quite impressive business on Thursday screenings, and prognosticators are looking toward an opening weekend total of around $80 million, putting it in admirable company with the likes of Doctor Strange. But people should rightly expect many more surprises and reflections on the character here, as this will indeed see Jackman moving onto more "prestigious" material following defining one of the great comic book characters for an entire generation.
